I'm trying to determine when it makes more sense to use a small number of categories with links that have several custom fields vs using a large number of categories with no custom link fields. For example, say I was creating a directory of college band competition reviews (I'm not, but this is an analogy). Paul, When having a busy site with expiring and renewing links, being hidden, unhidden, deleted and undeleted frequently, the total and category link counts vary during the day. At the moment we need to regenerate counters for the links count to be presented correctly. But on the busy sites it would be preferable not to need to regenrate, just for the link counts. After upgrading to the latest version I have a new problem that when I add new fields they are not showing up on the suggestlink.tpl Any idea what I have missed this time or is it something you have overlooked in the new version? Thanks, Jez.

Paul, Is is a way to redirect a member to a custom page after submitting a link, only in the case this member has entered a specific value for a variable ?

Automatic upgrades from 4.1.6 and 4.1.7 don't work. To fix you can delete classes/tar.php and then upload the current version's copy of it. 4.1.4's autoupgrade only works if you chmod the WSN Links directory to 777 first.

I'm in the process of planning a site that will primarily be a directory site, so I'm using WSN Links. However, I can see how a simple, stripped-down discussion forum might be useful at some point. Would it be possible to create a simple forum just by adding some new category and link types, etc.? It seems like a forum thread would just be like a link, and then replies to the thread would be the same as link comments. Seems like the same thing would be true if I also wanted a sim...

Paul, At Settings->SEO Replace ampersands with __ (must be unique) The character we insert here replaciong the ampersands is not allowing the rewrite to work at the category or link that contains this character.

Hi Paul As I have mentioned to you (hope you remember!) I have been having problems accessing this forum, it just times out. After fiddling about trying different things (I couldn't download the program you mentioned, still trying!) I can now get on using Opera. However, every time I go to a new page or refresh I get an error console and wondered if you could throw some light on this. The errors are basically to do with css. I would like to have the "quick jump" drop down box show only the sub-cats beneath cat 1. As there are around 200 I don't want to manually put them into the template, but can't think of how to do it. Is there an easy way?

I want to do a toplist of links where {LINKSMALLBANNER} is not null - is this possible? BTW, your manual is playing up - instead of seeing the sub-cats you see code.

Hi Paul, My site map regeneration is working fine except that it is now regenerating my out going links instead of my details page.
