my attachments settings are, not to remove file extensions and not to allow all extensions.
If i submit a non-allowable file with a 3-char extension, the file is rejected as it should,
but if i submit a a non-allowable file with a 1-char extension, it is accepted and uploaded.

Can't duplicate. I selected those settings and tried to upload a file named blah.b and it rejected it.

it must be because there is no allowable extension starting from "b", try "blah.g" (because of the ".gif")

Fixed in 2.0.1, though I'd be interested in hearing what the point of not removing extensions and of only allowing specific file types is. I've been considering removing those options as extraneous.
