Hello, Being able to set category URL in the AdminCP>SEO is a good feature. However, I suggest to allow for this value to be defined in the categories table as a field that can be managed just as any other category setting. This way, mistakes are being avoided, .haccess files can be easily regenerated, and valuable data is being kept in its natural location in the database. Examples can be seen in phpLD or LinksManager. What say ya'

It'd surely add a lot more potential for mistakes, as people can mess up or accidentally choose the same URL twice if they're writing it out manually. They'd have to be prompted to include {PAGE} in each category URL too, lest they forget and kill pages 2+. A possibility for 4.2 or 5.0, though. Edited by Paul on 03/05/08 - 12:35 AM

Thanks, Paul. I guess that since we are "cooking" all our category information in our backoffice database and trap mistakes in there, I didn't see the potential for mistake as you've pointed out. However, your switces system is ingenious enough to provide different methods for different directories.
