I backed up the database using the link in the admin panel and then restored it and everything is fine except when I submit a new link I get these errors...

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '&' in /home/wizardo/public_html/directory/classes/onelink.php(1036) : eval()'d code on line 1

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '&' in /home/wizardo/public_html/directory/classes/member.php(846) : eval()'d code on line 1

also when you browse the directory anywhere there is an apostrophe [ ' ] there is [ & ] ampersand

any suggestions?

The member rating formula and link importance formula are messed up by the backup, causing this issue. See http://www.webmastersite.net/forums/comments.php?...

For now, using phpmyadmin would be the way.
