Paul, I hope I'm not boring you with my frequent questions, but I'm trying the customize and configure the script according to my needs. It won't last too long, until then, thank you for your patience I turn the PM system on using the "switches", but when the page is reloaded, I see that it is turned off again..So the system can't be activated.. What may be the reason for this?

This must be because it's turned off in your own user profile. If you select in your profile to not allow PMs, then that'll interfere with the switch to make it think 'off' is selected when viewing the switches page. (It's actually on, but selects off.)
