Hi - You know Ive actually asked this question before ( run into the same error message) but as my host just changed servers its come up again. When I try to upload I get this message: The file you were trying to upload did not work. Check that the extension of the file is allowed (allowed types are jpg,jpeg,png,gif,bmp) and that the file is not too large (maximum size is 2000000 bytes, 4000x4000). Ive checked everything I can.... the pic is 36k, 450px x300px (within set limits), membergroup permissions set to upload and byte allowance 15000000, my path for attachments is : /usr/home/dpalbums/domains/dpalbums.lv/public_html/lat/attac hments/ (any problem with the . in the path?) attachments folder is 777.... anything else you can think of that might make this error? I know its an early version but things are/were working fine and there was no real reason to update. thanks Jeremy

I don't see what else could cause the message.

Would there be anything (setting) with the new server that I can ask my host about??

Other than the file path, I don't know of any that'd be involved. (It'd be easier to debug/duplicate on the current version of course.) What was the issue last time it came up?

Cant remember about last time but Im reasonably sure it was my stuff up. I think I might just have to try a re install so will keep you posted how its going - thanks for the help

Hi again, Ive had the time of my life trying to upgrade to a version that would let me upload images again To cut a long story short I am now on a new server using version 2.16 ( Dont ask why, mostly to do with the fact I have a heap of extremely modified templates in Latvian language...very hard to change and keep correct characters - the .tpl files dont contain any encoding info so dreamweaver doesnt know how to render it correctly and I lose all my characters, I know there are ways around it but I didnt want to alter the templates too much again so didnt use the latest version) ANYWAY..... Now I have upgraded the database, struggled to get it back up and running and now none of the images will show.... Attachments folder path is correct in the settings - attachments folder Ive tried at both 777 and 775. ( Do the actual attachments need to have a certain permission? Currently at 644 and Ive tried at 664). File names correspond correctly with whats in the database, Ive regenerated everything. Any ideas??? will a debug show anything?? Ive installed this version clean and uploaded/tried with test images so I know its not the server. Any ideas would be helpful cause Im close to throwing in the towel

will a debug show anything?? A debug of a broken thumbnail or image location would be informative.

Argh, I go to my website today and all the images are "X"ed out and I can't upload anything because I get the same error as above. I have never had this issue before. Very strange and I'm rather nervous as to what caused this.

After much hairpulling I have finally got things working - turned out for some reason 2.11 was a version which both the new server and the old 1.x version database liked so all is well.....BUT as I said in another post, older versions can be helpful so if they are not listed on the donwloads section for whatever reason perhaps you should re-consider

That's not a debug of a thumbnail, an actual thumbnail was what was needed (right click, 'show image' in most browsers, then tack debug=1 onto the url). Old versions are incompatible with PHP 5.0.5+ and have a serious vulnerability which allows hackers to upload and run PHP scripts on your server, as explained in the security update email, plus they have all sorts of other bugs, so anyhow they will not be made available.
