Hi,

I have enabled mod_rewrite and i have chosen to use teh custom templates for the categories and subcategories... I have uploaded those templates files to custom folder also.

I have also enabled the option of using the category names as in the URL's !

However, when i click on a category link from the home page, it does not load any page. sort of 404 error.

You might wantt o cross check here .... http://www.windows9x.com

Thanks for any help.
Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the links. I will look into it today and report back, if it works.

I also noyiced that , just by enabling the mod_rewrite and converting them to static url's the category pages don't load and is there any problem with the script or my apache mod-rewrite is not enabled ??

Thanks

Either aren't using the .htaccess file, or possibly your host doesn't support it rewriting.

Hi paul,

I am using the .htaccess file. I have uploaded all teh files, you have in the tar file.
All my hosts support rewriting.

I also checked that my removing the custom template option for categories, to see if the category pages load, not it still does not work. On the same hosts, it used to work with the old versions, but when i started using the new version, it failed to work. i did not upgrade, i did a new installation by losing the old data though.

For example, take a look at ....

humannodes.com
windows9x.com

Here the category pages do not load when you click on any category names on the home page.

Thank you for any help here.

Cheers

You probably need a rewrite_base value different than whatever you have. See the manual entry, consult with your host if necessary.

It sounds completely illogical to me to suggest that custom templates have anything to do with the issue at hand. Should I take this to mean you now agree?

Either read the mention of it in the manual and threads referenced there, or simply open up the htaccess and try some values.
