How does one go about mixing related categories with subcategories?

I don't think I understand the question. Related categories may or may not be subcategories of something or other, of course, since they're just categories. And subcategories may or may not be related to some other category.

Then there's the title, which talks about cateory types, which are a third unrelated thing.

Oops. I incorrectly perceived related categories as a type of category. My mistake.

But how does one mix related categories with subcategories? What I'd like to do is have an @ sign indicating the category is in another category similar to dmoz. I know I can "mix" it with secondary categories, but every time I add a category as a secondary category it also adds it to the pop-up menu for search and I'd like that not to happen. Any suggestions?

I don't think it's possible to make an alias related, is it? It should relate the original.

OK. Let me change the question: is it possible to add an @ sign (similar to dmoz) to secondary categories? If so, how?

Not at present. I'll see if I can make <IF {CATALIAS}>@</IF> do that in the future though.

Correction: <IF {CATALIAS}>@</IF> seems to already work. Not sure why I thought it didn't.
