I am attempting to view a list of the links I have set to Hidden so I can edit them (I do have some).

In the Admin area... in Search/Edit... I click on:

Hidden Items:
Show hidden links

And it returns a page that says:

Found 53 matching links for "1":

But does not actually show the links just a Search Again box.

Am I doing something wrong or is this not working right? I figured it would list the hidden links for editing not just tell me how many hidden links I have.

?

Just a thought...

What link type are they? If they are of a type that you added, did you add that type to the search template?

Does it share the same Search template as the main directory?i just checked the template for those and they do list my added types.

But.. the main search is also not returning the actual links.. just the number.

I wonder if the template i have been using for years is no longer valid with one of the recent upgrades?

here is a snippet of the code I have in the Search template to display a type named "Sponsored":

<!-- BEGIN SPONSORED -->
<td valign="top" align="left">
<IF {LINKURL}>
<a href="{TRACKLINKURL}" onMouseOver="window.status='{LINKREALURL}'; return true" onMouseOut="status=' '">{LINKTITLE}</a> </IF>
<a href="{TRACKLINKURL}" {EXTERNALLINKS} onMouseOver="window.status='Open {LINKREALURL} in a new window.'; return true" onMouseOut="status=' '">
<img src="graphics/newwindow2.gif" border="0" alt="Open This Link in a New Window" align="bottom" width="7" height="9" hspace="3"></a>
{LINKNEW} {LINKADMIN} <br>
<span class="tmedium"><IF {SWITCH_RATINGS}> {LINKSTARS} ({LINKRATING}/{MAXVOTE} - {LINKVOTES} votes) <a href="vote.php?id={LINKID}">Rate this site</a></IF></span>
<br><span class="tdescription">{LINKDESCRIPTION}</span>
</td>

<!-- END SPONSORED -->

I was able to get the search in the main directory to now show results by adjusting the template using the default as a guide.

However, the links in the Admin search results still are not showing. What is the template name for that search result page?

As it is searching for hidden links, categories or comments I would say that it is using the search.tpl

Glad you've got the main one working now smiling face

SORRY! typo - that should read it is using the searchall.tpl

Thanks for you help on this.

searchall.tpl is the one I edited to get the main one working but no change in the Admin area.
Also tried search.tpl. I don't see any Admin area template that would correspond to it.

All other link searches in the Admin area do return results and display the links.. just not the hidden ones. Will keep trying. I wonder if by changing the link to 'hidden' it changes the type to one I don't have in the template?

Well, I was trying it out on one of my sites to ensure it worked ok on mine, but have found that when I click on search for hidden links I am told that you are only allowed to perform one search every 5 seconds. So I changed it to 1 second and still get the message that I am performing too many searches!!

So I'm afraid these are questions for Paul!

[edit] ok, finally managed to get mine working and it shows special type ok. I have only added the link type to search.tpl and searchall.tpl

Concerning number of searches... Paul, it seems to be making me wait at least 30 seconds, although I didn't time it, when I have it set to 1 second

YAY! Got it! It switches the type back to 'regular' when set to hidden and my template for some reason didn't have that as I only use custom types.

I strongly suggest keeping the regular type. Give it whatever display name you want, there's no reason not to keep it except to give yourself a lot of work.
