Am I going daft? hmm, no don't answer that one!

I can't seem to set Private Messages for members up anywhere.

Under switches I have checked "Private messaging system". But I can't see under "Registration Defaults" anything about Private Messages.

When trying to send a member a PM the choice is not available in their profile - but I can't see anywhere on their options to turn it on (not even in mine!)!

So I tried http://www.MYSITE.co.uk/privatemessaging.php?action=send&sendto=5 But I just get back that I don't have permission

Oh, and how come the meta tag titles for every member says "Profile of Paul | mysite"? Surely it should be "profile of membername"?

confused

My name got stuck in the page title at some point in the past. Search for language containing Paul and change it to {MEMBERNAME}.

As far as not having permission to PM people, check your usergroup permissions. Sounds like your usergroup isn't allowed to PM.

Same here, can't turn PMs on. Switch is on but can't change settings in member permissions, the PM section is missing.

It is something to do with <IF {SWITCHPM}> in the admin templates. On removing <IF {SWITCHPM}> from admin templates it deos show the options (of course). That's how I got round it,but it does seem {SWITCHPM} is not working.

This is the same experience that I was mentioning back in this post:

http://www.webmastersite.net/forum...te-messaging--pm-8903.html

I did my solution - as shown in Post # 5

Hope that helps ...

Unless I am really blind, there is nothing in the user group permissions about private messages.

Attached is a screen shot - I can see about instant messaging and email but not PM. And yes, Private messaging is switched on under switches

Yeah, that's the problem I had Babrees, to get round it it I edited the Admin template "usergroup permissions" and removed <IF {SWITCHPM}> from around the PM options.

Now I jst have to remember to put it back when a solution is found.

There's no {SWITCHPM} in the template, only {SWITCH_PM}.

Attached screenshot of where it is for me. I guess you two have a different template somehow?

I may have just written the variable wrong.

There is however, definitely a problem. I cannot switch activate private message system on in registration defaults. I switch it to 'yes' submit, and it's on 'no' again.

No modertation PMs are being sent, even though it is switched on in switches, and all members have it as yes in their profile.

Correction: A pm does send on moderator actions, but only if the link is deleted. And an email is not sent ot to notify of the PM. Is there a way to send a PM when a link is 'edited' by a mod or admin and have the system send an email notifying of the PM.

hmm, I don't have that. I have not touched the admin templates, but just in case it wasn't updated from an upgrade I have just manually uploaded the admin templates for the latest version - nope, still not there!

I can't comment further until there's an inspection request. http://www.wsnlinks.com/inspection.html
