Quickly replicating a sub-category

Say I have 50 top-level categories, and underneath each of them are another 30-odd sub-categories, and underneath those will be some more sub-sub-categories. All the sub and the sub-sub categories are the same (i.e. same names) Is there a way of quickly replicating the sub structure, so I don't have to manually create them for each of the top-level categories? Also, would I be right in thinking that that naming structure would mean a mod-rewrite would not be possible?
