I'm confused how it works. I read posts from the past and still don't get it to the end.
If I include a link type into sponsored it automatically disappeares form the drop-down list in the suggest link. Why? I assume people can sponsor their link to the top of the category only after they submitted it for free. Is that the deal? I thought there would be an option to choose sponsored link type while suggesting new link and it would redirect them to Pay Pal etc.

Because it would defeat the purpose of sponsorship if people could just select to submit their links as that type at will.

I don't think that would be very user friendly. An 'I would like to sponsor this link' checkbox on the submission page might be a good feature suggestion though.
