Hi.

After a long evening, the upgrade of www.thriftyplanet.com from old to new is in progress, however, without changing any settings, and making sure any settings changed by the upgrade were reset, I have two oddities happening.

Original Installation:

http//:www.thriftyplanet.com/dir/

New installation (in progress):

www.thriftyplanet.com/dir2/

Both operating off same database.

After I saw that the members, categories, etc etc, worked fine on dir2 I went back to visit dir and my main index page had changed. I had not touched the template, it is reading the template yet my subcategories are not showing now. The setting for how many subcategories to list is set for "50" subcategories and this is not showing on the orig. installation http//:www.thriftyplanet.com/dir/.

Now, oddly enough, the categories are showing just fine on the dir2 set up.

Why would it change if I havent' touched anything (except the upgrade in a different folder)? When viewing the source, you see that (not exact term) is missing from the html source code (http//:www.thriftyplanet.com/dir/) however when viewing the template through admin, it is there.

Whazzzzz up?

I know it's something small, something tiny that needs to be tweaked but for the life of me can't figure out what it is.

Also unrelated to my upgrade...Would my server be at fault if say I was trying to delete suggested categories and it times out even if I try to delete one, or is the script doing something weird? I don't have any of the heavy server load accessories to the script running either. I thought an upgrade would help but it's still timing out and i have to go through phpmyadmin to delete the suggested categories...

2.56 style templates don't have the subcategories style required in 3.1+. See 3.1 templates and add the as there.

Thank you. I copied everything from

{CATNAME} ({CATNUMLINKS}) {CATHASNEW} {CATADMIN}
{CATDESCRIPTION}

{CATNAME},

And now it's just showing "[More]" and not the 10 subcategories it should be showing like on the 3.13 version.

also, my connection is timing out when I try to delete suggested categories. Sometimes one will go through, but if I select more than one the connection times out...

I thought you were talking about displaylinks.tpl, not main.tpl. Subcats on main page might just require regenerating everything.

As for deleting categories, I've never seen a timeout there but I suppose I haven't deleted large categories often. With huge numbers of categories, it's the 'suggest link' and 'suggest category' page that timeout if the switches and levels aren't set right.
