Just a few questions more...

My subcategory descriptions are not showing up on any pages. If I add a description to a main category, it shows up on the main index page but that's it. CATDESCRIPTION} is definitely on the displaylinks.tpl so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here. I would think descriptions would be possible for subcategories but if not, does that mean I have to create a custom variable or am I going blind as I get older? <img src="https://www.webmastersite.net/forums/templates/images_bootstrap/smilies/no.gif" border="0" title="shaking head" alt="shaking head" /> I've been searching the forum - I swear!

Next question - and I've searched quite a bit and can't seem to find this either. How do I force links to open the "details" page rather than go to the URL? Then, on the detail page, the link would send the visitor to the website. I can't seem to find this though I do think it's possible as I've seen other sites running WSNLinks that appear to do this. Is it because I'm using the basic version? I do see there is a details link under the description, but I'd rather have the link title automatically open to the detail page.

Last question... I have read a few posts but still not sure if it's possible. I'd like to make the link description only have a partial of the full description. I've tried using this: LINKDESCRIPTION[20]} but it's not working. Is this due to operator error or the fact I'm using the basic version?

Thanks.

Hope

Categoy Titles Special Characters

I've got a category that has an apostrophe and a period in the title. For example, if I use St. Bartholomew's Day as the category name, the link is written as url/17 instead of url/St.-Bartholomew's-Day. I tried using & # 8 2 1 7 ; (sans spaces) for the apostrophe but that didn't affect the url. If I remove the . and ' the url is fine and rewrites as url/St-Bartholomews-Day but then the category name looks incorrect without them. Is there any way to add/include the . and ' characters in the mod rewrite? Or else hardcode the category name to display on the page correctly while the url is written as url/St-Bartholomews-Day? If not, I would really appreciate it if someone would please just respond with a "no" as I'd like to move forward and name the category according to whether it's possible or not.

Thanks,

Hope

Subcategory not updating on Main

Here's my problem:
Category1: "Events"
Subcat1: "Music"
subcats titles of Music
The subcategories of a subcategory are not updating on the main category page. If clicked on, the correct title displays. I found that if I add a subcategory, the main page will then update the titles below the subcategory. Unfortunately, I can't delete the subcategory I'd added. That is... it deletes from everywhere else, just not the Main category page. Hopefully the image will help explain what I mean. I searched the forum and manual but could not find a solution. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Hope

Renaming Folder

Hi again,

Another newbie question here. I've been working a bit customizing the templates, adding links, etc., and as I've gone through this process I realize it is necessary to change the main links directory to another name. I renamed it at the initial set up before doing any kind of work but wonder if it's possible to change the directory name again. Would I simply change it in the admin panel under System Configuration - Directory URL (also renaming the folder via FTP) or is there another way to go about it?

Thanks,

Hope

Link in Template

Hello all,
I've just installed the WSN Basic. A great script, thank you! My eyes must be pretty blurry at the moment but for the life of me, I can't find where I can either switch off the following line or comment it out of the basic templates.
1 link (1 regular and 0 reciprocal) and 1 subcategories in this category Last link added 03/26/06.
I sure would appreciate it if someone would be kind enough to shed a little light on this for me.

Thanks so much!
