Admin Bypass attachment upload issue Rob Dalzell Hi Paul.

I've noticed a behaviour I don't think was intended when usig the

"Let admins bypass requirements such as required fields?"

When left to the default no, I can use the edit link or add link page, I can upload attachmennts one right after the
other, with no problem. The page refreshes with each new attachment upload.

When I turn the admin bypass on, after I upload an attachment, the link page is forced to create it's self, and I am redirected from the link submittion page. This is a pain for more then 1 attachment upload, and at the same time the admin bypass is needed to switch all links recip (other then admins).

FLV & Attachments. Rob Dalzell Hi Paul

It seems that the majority of my problems was with the file system tree switch, a new install of 4.1.22 without touching the switch, and everything looks good other then FLV.

Paul wrote:

Try running this manually via SSH (while in a directory with a video.avi):
ffmpeg -i video.avi -ar 22050 -ab 32 -f flv -s 400x300 - video.flv

Do you get an error message?

Tried what you suggested from shell, the conversion completed without error, I downloaded the converted FLV and it plays with sound & looks good. I'm using WSN's Default setting 400x300, but still no go for conversion on upload. I have noticed that once uploaded, I can not find the avi file on the harddrive, I'm wondering where the temp avi is held before conversion and if that could be a problem? Maybe it's not making it to my system? With the FLV switch off the same avi is uploaded with no problems.raised eyebrow

Thanks

FLV & Attachments. Rob Dalzell Hi,.

To experiment some more, I just downgraded to 4.1.21 from .22 I have noticed that files will correctly delete themselves so long as the Attachments directory as category tree switch is off. I can delete the attachments from the bulk edit links then select link select attachment and remove, or delete the link entirely and run the unused attachments under maintenance. So my ablility to delete attachments seems to be with the switch.

On top of that, 4.1.21 allows me to upload several attachments with out the page redirecting me to an admin search page like in .22 The problem I was having in .22 is that as soon as I hit the "Attach" button, it acts as the submit button, taking me away from the edit.php?action=link and sending me to admin searchedit page.

Still haven't found a place to play with my FLV settings.

Thanks

FLV & Attachments. Rob Dalzell I wanted to update my post that I can confirm that FFMPeg Lame and the other required ports are installed and running on my server. To experiment, I installed a program called phpmotion.com which is an MPG/AVI to FLV on upload script.

I did have to change the script options to look in /usr/local/bin/ rather then the default /usr/bin. I have not found a place in wsnlinks to modify the installed directy for ffmpeg, which makes me wonder if this could be a solution?

I also had an issue with phpmotion not performing background shell commands for flv conversion and automatic deletion of avi. This was fixed by providing the full php path /usr/local/bin/php to the script in an optional config file, apearently (according to phpmotion) my server has issues using php in CLI mode. Which I find troublesome, because it has been compiled as CLI,CGI & Apache mod.

With phpmotion, I am able to upload the same avi I mention above, it is converted, the avi file is automatically deleted. The avi plays fine with sound, I can then delete the file from the admin panel, and the script will correctly delete the flv file from the harddrive.

I am still not able to reproduce this with wsnlinks, avi will not convert and even the normal attachments will not delete from hard drive.

thanks

FLV & Attachments. Rob Dalzell Hi Paul.

Happy Holidays,. I am having a problem with attachments, in 2 ways.

The first is that I am trying to use the FLV conversion on upload. I have installed the ports required including
the FFMpeg for php5. I have adjusted my php.ini files to allow 100meg uploads, longer script times etc. I have tried with a very small AVI file that I have successfully converted myself with another program, so I know that the
avi can be converted without error. It does not seem to convert on upload with WSN Links. At the end of the
upload, the file name can be seen with the .flv extention, but the file size is 0 and there is no
sign of the file in the attachments directory.

It might be important to point out that I have switched to Attachments directory as category tree.

Thumbnailed Jpegs work correctly, they are uploaded, cropped and 2 files are created in the attachment directory within the correct category directory name.

Is there something common I might have overlooked?

My second issue is with removing attachments,. I have 4.1.22 installed brand new, and I have been trying to remove attachments either by hard deleting the link that the attachments belong to, deleting the attachments individually from within theedit link area, also, I have tried the Maintenance>Unused Attachments option to try and remove attachments, as well as regenerate everything.

Though they still remain in the file system tree, and as well, they can not be deleted by webmaster, I must superuser and delete files. They apper to be given chown www.

The attachment directory is chmod 777 and chown Webmaster.

An issue that I am seeing that I'm not sure is normal, is that after uploading an attachment, I'm immediatly redirected to a search page (after I hit the browse file, and then attach button). This is becoming a bit of a pain as I'd have multiple files to upload per link, and for some reason I don't believe it was behaving like this on an WSNLINKS install I created earlier last week. If I remember correctly it had an ajax like feel that made the new file appear on the page without refresh, or redirect.

I'm unclear if it's my server or script, and I'm hoping you might have some hints.

Thanks for your time
Rob

Attachment Image Thumbnail Rob Dalzell Thanks Paul,. that fixed it. Dec 21, 2007 - 8:14 AM Paid Scripts Support
Attachment Image Thumbnail Rob Dalzell As an update, I have been trying to find a solution, and I have found the settings in
GENERAL>Number of columns per row:>Attachments.

However, this is not working correctly. I have uploaded 5 pictures, I modified this setting to be 5 columns per row, saved correctly etc, and it makes no change. I change the setting to 2 columns per row,. and there is a change unfortunetly nothing good. In this case 3 pictures are stacked one on top the the other ABOVE the link it's self, while the other two pictures appear just below the link,. still stacked, but in the correct place.

I am trying to have it appear
LINKURL - DESC
OTHER INFO ETC
PIC1 PIC2 PIC3 PIC4 PIC5

This is a complete new install as of 3 hours ago, I'm still using the default install directory to test things out. Seems like this is more then just my config problems?

Another issue I am having is related to my attachments directory being mounted below the web root directory. I have a dedicated harddrive mounted off of root /STORAGE/attachments/ the uploads are correctly saved into, thumbs are made and stored as well, this is using a file tree option in switches. The first time the thumbs are made they appear fine in the links page called through "http://site.com/thumbnail.php?attachid="
after a log out and refresh, the thumbs appear broke being called by "http://site.com/attachments/categoryname/thumb_.jpg" of course now the thumb cannot be served correctly because it has been saved below web root. Is there a solution to this?

My final question, is it proper for selecting "Recip Only" in switches, that the admin will also have to provide recip urls to links that he adds himself through the admin control center?? this seems odd to me. I would like to make it recipe for all users, but regular for myself unless I otherwise chose recip. As of this install, selecting recips only makes it so that I cannot add a link myself without a recip URL. sad

Thanks for your time/help

Attachment Image Thumbnail Rob Dalzell Hello,.

I've done a searh in the forums looked through the switches and admin area for the option to adjust the display of thumbnails with uploaded image attachments. Currently the link will display one thumb on top of another, and I need a way to have those thumbs display next to one another, otherwise my pages will become very long.

I think I have found the correct template code for modification, I'm curious if someone here can help me modify this so that the images will come out (as an example) 10 Columns per row, and create a new row once the 10th spot has been filled, so that a link with 20 pics will neatly create 2 rows with 10 columns etc.

<IF {LINKFILEFIELD}><br />Attached Files:<br />
<!-- BEGIN LINK ATTACHMENTS -->
<a href="{ATTACHDOWNLOADURL}">{ATTACHFILETITLE}</a> ({ATTACHKB} KB, {ATTACHDOWNLOADS} downloads)<br />
<IF {ATTACHISIMAGE}><a href="{ATTACHDOWNLOADURL}"><img src="{ATTACHTHUMBURL}" alt="" /></a><br /></IF>
<!-- END LINK ATTACHMENTS -->
</IF>

Thanks for any help.

Delete duplicates all at once? Rob Dalzell Not only would it mean a more pain free administration for me to have a delete all at once button,. but an automated processes that peforms deletion of duplicate entries daily would be such a valuable feature. Sep 03, 2007 - 4:33 PM Paid Scripts Support
4.1 possibilities Rob Dalzell My vote is for the recip-check, I'd also like an easy way to have all user submitted links be recip only, with no slashes in the URL so only fully qualified domains (www.yourdomain.com). Drop the alternative location for recips so the www.yourdomain.com is being spidered for recip. A check at the time of submittion and then every 48 hours (or custom time set?)

I love this script to death, and it slowly kills me with all the little things I wish I could program in myself, so I zen out and chill with Buddha instead, because I have no skills.

My own suggestion to think about, the members funtions with chatting and instant message are almost sellers for this script, but there's not a whole lot people can do with one another. Why not allow the member, from within their personal options, enable a sharing of their personal favourites or "saved" links. This will get people commenting and IM'ng more when they find people with the same interests, and if you have a massive database, finding links to share with buddies could be a fun activity.

The key is in the saved links, get them sharing and they will use!

PHP Includes incorporated in to links Rob Dalzell I'd like to be able to, in the admin area, when accessing links, have a field that I can type a php include command and path to a plain txt file with an html table containing graphics, and make specific includes to each link in my database. This way free content pictures can be attached to the same table as the link it's self.

Is there an easy way to do this, is it cheap enough to have someone modify? I think I explained it as best I can, but imagine a directory where some links are normal, while others (ones with php includes) have additional table data written into them and the table contains images, or whatever I choose to put in the html of the .txt file to include.

Thanks for the help!

Rob Dalzell I have purchased the script, and, it's going to be a real challange for me to learn everything I will need to admin it, but, there is no other script that even comes close to it and for such a great price too!

What I would like to know is, does the script give me the ability to list in order, links sending in most hits at the top, followed by new links followed by highest rated rankings/votes and then all other remaining links (maybe by age? or other option). Also, can the "inhits" that would decide placement for links be tracked by cookies and/or IP to prevent cheating.

I have a million other questions I will try and answer myself, but for now, this is fairly important for me to know, as I would like to find someone that can code this for me if it doesn't exist, which is question #2, who out there could do something like this for me? if the script isn't capable out of the box.

My Thanks
Rob
