Adding image in CAtegory discription RedstoneMG I know that someone else customized their wsn links with custom category images, it takes a bit of work but not too hard. Do a search of the forums for this info.

I'd love to see this as a added feature in WSN links at least for main categories. When you add a category just attach an image as well. Would be great with classifieds, etc...

Am trying to show the link type in thel RedstoneMG Use the display Name as 'Reciprical' and the value as 'recip' May 24, 2006 - 6:52 AM Paid Scripts Support
How are people using the sponsor feature RedstoneMG I plan on using it for 3 different link types. Based on monthly, and yearly fees.

I'm not sure how many decimal places I can use to get accuracy. Maybe Paul could just confirm this?

Eg:
So $10/year plan would work out to:

2 decimals: $10/365=$0.02 is $0.02x365= Only $7.30
3 decimals: $10/365=$0.027 is $0.027x365= $9.86
4 decimals: $10/365=$0.0274 is $0.0274x365= $10.00

Paypal payment hides new listing? RedstoneMG Sorry for the delay - was gone this weekend.

The member stuff was just for zippo who was suggesting some options about validating members etc...

I understand your point Paul - it doesn't seem to make any sense. It shows hide=0 for me too in my paypal.php.

I'm going to install a completely fresh wsn links and try my paypal again to see if it could be paypal hiding my listing.

Paypal payment hides new listing? RedstoneMG Hi, I'm using 3.3.15 (also happened with previous versions)

PAYPAL INFO:
I'm a verified business account with Paypal
Instant Payment Notification (IPN): ON
Instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL: /dir/paypal.php
API is not setup
Payment Data Transfer (optional): ON
Auto Return for Website Payments: ON - linking to custom thanks page (working link)
Encrypted Website Payments: OFF

I want everyone to be a member. Members will be able to use/submit to the forums, events, classifieds & directory. I may have to just validate everything, after I figure out what is causing this glitch to hide the paypal submissions.

Paypal payment hides new listing? RedstoneMG Anyone found this problem? I'm testing my link submission, and after making a payment through paypal the listing is hidden.

My member group settings:
Members can submit: Links
Requires validation of: Links & Link Edits

After paypal I have to go to Search/Edit and unhide the listing choice, and then it will show up. Is this a type of validation? If this is - shouldn't you show links that are hidden on the Validate Item page?

I don't know if this is a glitch or supposed to happen. Maybe there should be another option on the Manage Usergroups area for sponsored links.

Example: Require Validation of: Links, Categories, Link Edits, Sponsored Links, Comments

Realistically I don't want to validate the people who have paid through paypal. If someone is paying to be in the directory they are more than likely to be legit. But I do want to validate the free postings - I want to make sure they aren't spammers. Also kind of a nice marketing tool - be listed immediately with paypal...free listings allow 2-3 business days for validation...

New template design RedstoneMG I like this better. Apr 24, 2006 - 10:47 AM Paid Scripts Support
New template design RedstoneMG Good layout style. I agree with capitaine - a white background is very clean and crisp looking and is very refreshing. I'd place the white background behind the links, but a color outside like zdnet, download.com, msn.com. Blue like in your logo would be a good choice as it seems to be very relaxing and loyal - pretty popular in most of the top sites as well.

Nothing wrong with getting good ideas from others. Look at successful sites/directories such as: google, yahoo, aol... better yet - just take a peek at the top 10-20 websites in the US listed on Alexia. These guys spend the big bucks to get information to users fast, and in a pleasant to view manner:

Search/Filter multi-select RedstoneMG I've looked over the information on filtering links, at:
scripts.webmastersite.net/w...nks/wsnmanual/articles/162

Also read the information from: https://www.webmastersite.net/forums/thread/6212
(thanks mrowton)

Just wondering if there is any update on using an advanced search on multiselect fields?

Sponsor Listings RedstoneMG I'm doing the same kind of thing with my wsnlinks.

The manual has some valuable information on setting up the sponsorship link types here:

Sponsor vs Paid listing type Feature? RedstoneMG Sponsorship allows paid linktypes. The average site would generally have 2 types: a variety of free link types and a sponsorship link types. WSN perfectly accomodates this, however to have free, sponsorship AND paid link types I believe we need to include a choice for the default origtype once the paid term has expired.

Here is an idea of what I mean using 3 types of linktypes.
-------------------------------------------------------
FREE - basic listing with no expiry

PREMIUM - paid listing (includes detail page) valid for 1 year - without paid renewal reverts to FREE link type

SPONSORED - priority listing at the top of categories above all other link types - purchased in weekly/monthly time periods and after funds expire it will revert back to origtype.
-------------------------------------------------------

Possible idea to accomplish this.

Include a revert to linktype choice box using the comma as a separator for the different possiblities for each linktype... for example using the 3 linktypes mentioned above (free, premium, sponsored) the Link Type Promotion would have the following fields completed.

Sponsor Link Type: [Sponsored,Premium]
Item Number: [1,2]
Incrimental Fee (in USD): $ [30,30]
Deduct the incrimental fee every [30,365] days
Revert to this linktype when funds expire: [origtype, free]

So the Sponsored linktype is product #1, charged $30 US and expires in 30 days, after which it will expire to the origtype it was before sponsorship.

While the Premium linktype is product #2, charged $30 US and expires in 365 days, after which it will expire to a FREE linktype unless renewed.

Sponsorship feature? RedstoneMG Hi Paul/Developers,

It would be of great benefit if the increment day option on the sponsor page could be included in the link type selection. So when you add multiple sponsor types (paid listings) you could set different prices.

My example:

Premium listings with a detail page - charging $30/yr,
Sponsorship listings (top of all links) which are going to be charged per week.

It would be great to add the old comma between the days to be incremented.

Listing hidden after payment is received RedstoneMG Actually, I'm now thinking that this makes a bit of sense with my setup....

I do have admin validation of links before they are live in case something is changed to something inapropriate. So once paypal has received payment it should allow me to validate the link before it is shown in the listing.

It gets hidden instead. I would have assumed that the upgrade would have shown up on the validate items screen under a new column called sponsorship... maybe I'll try to add it there. smiling face
