Changing User Name in Several Articles knipp Found the easy answer:

Admin ==> Advanced Options ==> Perform Mass Alterations

Worked like a charm and I didn't have to worry about the MySQL syntax.

Changing User Name in Several Articles knipp How about running both of these search-and-replace operations in MySQL:

UPDATE wsnkb_links SET ownername = replace(ownername, "Old Name", "New Name");

UPDATE wsnkb_links SET lastpostername = replace(lastpostername, "Old Name", "New Name");

... or would just the first operation do the trick. The ones I did by hand show the correct name under "ownername", but the "lastpostername" still shows the old name.

Even after regeneration, the "ownername" is still the old user name except within the articles that I edited and re-saved.

Changing User Name in Several Articles knipp Unfortunately, that doesn't work. The byline still shows the old name (even after selecting "Update everything". :-( Nov 24, 2011 - 11:11 AM Paid Scripts Support
Changing User Name in Several Articles knipp I changed the user name for a submitter with over 150 articles. The articles themselves still show the old user name under the byline. Apart from doing an edit/resave for each article (which works great) is there a faster way? Nov 23, 2011 - 5:50 PM Paid Scripts Support
Invisible Members knipp I note that one of the switches in "Manage Usergroups" is "Can view invisible members". How do you make a member invisible? It would definitely be great for the Administrator.

I am actually going to be upgrading to 6.1.?, but want to sort out a few things first.

Also, if I turn off "Members" in Settings ==> Switches, I assume that existing members would be able to login using a direct link?

Logging into the Forums - a Tip knipp Stupid me! I set up my Internet Explorer to only allow cookies from sites that I add to the 'allowed' list, and then wondered why I was having a problem logging into the forums here.

The solution in the most recent version of IE is to go to:

Tools ==> Internet Options ==> Privacy ==> Sites

Enter 'webmastersite.net' (no quotes) in the 'Address of website:' field and THEN CLICK ON 'Allow'. If you just press your 'Enter' key, 'Block' is selected by default.

This process, or something similar, should work in other versions of IE as well.

Different use for formemail.php knipp I liked the output of a Perl/cgi form program that I have been using for years, but it had no option for adding a security code image. Therefore, I instituted a 2-step form process on one of my websites. The main php form (using formemail.php} asks for only the sender's e-mail address and security code. The 'thankspage' is actually the form that uses the .cgi script.

My reason for instituting this is that my old form doesn't include blank fields in the emailed output.

Formemail.php also has a problem with checkboxes. For example:

<input type="checkbox" name="options" value="CHOICE1">Choice 1<br>
<input type="checkbox" name="options" value="CHOICE2">Choice 2<br>
<input type="checkbox" name="options" value="CHOICE3">Choice 3<br>

... will only output the last choice picked, even if more than one is selected,

Getting rid of blank lines in output knipp I didn't like the extra lines between fields in the emailed output of the form, and found out where this can be modified. Just take out the extra blank lines in this part of the formemail.php script:

================================================= ======

$messagetoadmin = $_POST['submitteremail'] ." has filled out a form with this content:

";

======================================== ===============

By the way, my apologies to Paul. He did reply to a request that I made via the support form, but I deleted it from my trash mailbox a split second after realizing that he had replied.

Cryptic Upgrade Message knipp On auto upgrade to 4.1.24, there is a message that says:

========================================================================

The following language items have changed since your old version, so they're been reverted to English and you'll need to translate them:

LIST OF ITEMS

========================================================================

Uh ... what exactly does that mean?

knipp I am running WSNKB 2.0.18. Is there enough that is different in 4.# to make me want to upgrade? How easy is the upgrade process? Advice welcome. Jan 14, 2008 - 8:35 AM Paid Scripts Support
knipp Using the SEO function 'Rewrite Other Specific URLs', what would I enter to redirect the following:

http:/dom.com/index.php?usewrapper=no&custom=yes&TID=mostrecent

to

http:/dom.com/myfile.html

(left out one slash after the http: to make the above lines format correctly)
