Not receiving e-mails wsnl Hi

I can't currently log in to update my version of WSNLinks because I've requested a password reminder, but it wasn't sent. I've tried this 4 or 5 times, but nothing sent back. I also tried sending you a customer support message - but I don't know if it was received because no automated confirmation was sent back like it usually is.

Please can you help?

Many thanks

Kind regards
Trevor.

Accidentally seem to have upgraded to 7.0.0 Alpha 16 wsnl Hi

I just purchased an upgrade to the latest version of WSN Links and it looks really good. I had intended only to upgrade to the latest version of 6 after my purchase, but the system is now saying the version I have installed is 7.0.0 Alpha 16 - I don't know how this happened as I thought I was upgrading to the latest version of 6.

In reality, I don't mind - I think I'll need to keep it - assuming I can upgrade it every time an upgrade comes along through to the final stable version. I only have the database as it is attached to this version, so would rather not want to try rolling it back now when it appears to work OK thus far.

Hopefully this does not represent a great security risk? I don't mind helping with the bug-spotting in the meantime either.

Do you think this will be OK to use on my live site now, even though I recognise there will be bugs to be fixed, so everything might not work perfectly - I don't think I have much choice as I'd like to not have to go backwards on installs.

Thank you for your help

Kind regards
Trevor.

403 error on submit php adding link wsnl Hi

I've just moved my WSN Links to a new server - everything went fine, except I have just noticed that I get a 403 error when I click on 'Submit' button on the add a link page (submit.php). I suspect this might be a permissions problem, but I can't identify what permissions on what files might be required to make the form submit properly. Permissions on the Submit.php file are 644.

I would be grateful for any help to solve this problem - I'd wondered why no-one had submitted anything for a while!

Just to be sure I have now updated wsn to version 5.1.57

Kind regards
Trevor.

wsnl Don't worry - it seems to be fixed now - perhaps re-generating everything did the trick. Will watch for any error generated automatically by the system to be sure smiling face

Thanks.

wsnl Hi

I was just testing my WSN Links site, and randomly decided to see what would happen if I clicked on the 'Submit' button on the submit a link form without filling in any of the fields first. When I did this, I got the following error returned on a white blank page:

object->passconfirm =

Bug: object with no {X objectpref value! should never happen.

I've just upgraded to version 5.1.54 prior to trying this test, but it's just as likely I didn't notice it, and it is a bug with my specific WSN Links install rather than in the software itself. I'm not sure if the upgrade worked properly as I got a 500 internal server error when trying to upgrade - but it seems to have been successful - the correct version number shows in admin.

Any thoughts? I'll try re-generating everything to see if that helps smiling face

Thank you for your help.

Problem with categories and new link submission wsnl Hi

Thanks for your replies - I took a look at the switches - 'member links lists' wasn't checked, but 'Saved links' was. Could this have been the problem? In case, I have de-activated it. Also 'Allow claiming links' was checked - have un-checked that too.

Would it be safe to come out of maintenance mode, and will the database be ok?

Thank you for your help.

Problem with categories and new link submission wsnl Hi

There seems to be a problem on my WSN Links system (5.1.53) - Someone has managed to submit a new category (although submissions of new categories is set not to be permitted for the userlevel) and place a link listing in the category. When I approved it, it didn't show up, which alerted me to a problem. After some searching I located the new link submission and found that it had been placed in a new category called something random like 'sean's link listing' - when I went to edit this, I tried deleting the category and moving the listing but the category still shows up. The actual link shows up as the primary category being 'admin's link collection' - and there is no choice to select anything else. When I hard deleted the link I now get the following errors if I try to access the link again to check it's gone:

Error occurred at /links/link.php?action=detail&id=10095 on 2010-11-28 00:31:53. Error text: Error #2: 'mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource' in /links/databases/mysql.php on line 79.
Last SQL error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND validated=1 AND hide=0 ORDER BY title ASC' at line 1

I'm worried that security of the links and database system has been compromised, whether it is a WSN links problem or a database problem of some sort (perhaps the database disconnected during submission?) and also wondering if this problem can therefore be securely fixed?

Many thanks for your help

Kind regards
Trevor.

Automatic upgrade problem wsnl Hi

I just used the auto upgrade button to upgrade WSN links to 5.0.74 I think from 5.0.73 and now both the WSN links systems I am running are no longer functioning.

On one system, whenever I try to access a category page for example, all that is presented is a blank white page.

On the other system, I get the following error:

An error occoured at /index.php?action=displaycat&catid=7 on 2009-11-03 11:28:15. Please relay this data to support. Error #2: 'mysqli_fetch_row() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, boolean given' in /user/htdocs/databases/mysqli.php on line 47.

If you are not the administrator of this site, please report this page to the administrator. If you are the administrator, please pay careful attention: You have a parse error in your template templates/default/displaylinks.tpl (or perhaps in your header or footer) which you need to repair before this page can be displayed correctly. The error is picked up on by php at line 313 of the output.Line #308: <div class="boxtitle" onclick="minmax('infobox')"><img src="/templates/images_default/icon_info.gif" alt="submit" /> Category Stats</div>
Line #309: <div id="infobox" class="boxbody">

Line #313: <?php if (1) { ?>

[Load this template in your template editor]

Note that the line of the output is not necessarily the same line number in your template... just look for a similar looking area. The source of your error is probably not on line 313 itself, but most likely a line or two before it. Check your code carefully for syntax mistakes. If you cannot recognize one, copy and paste this output into a thread on the support forum.
Now outputing the page without any conditional or php sections evaluated:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/javascriptheader.php"> onload="if(typeof(load) == 'function'){load();}" onunload="if(typeof(GUnload) == 'function'){GUnload();}">

It was all working OK before the upgrade.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Manage Subscriptions turning off wsnl Hi

Is it possible to switch off the Manage Subscriptions feature and manage subscriptions section to all members of the links database? So that the feature is not available at registration or in a user's profile, and so all current users who have set subscriptions - the subscriptions are stopped?

Thank you for your help smiling face

E-mail settings for contact form wsnl Hi

Thanks for your reply - and suggestions :-)

I discovered that the problem was actually in my profile where 'receive e-mails from other users' was set to 'no' for some reason, so setting it back to 'yes' enabled the e-mails to get through again successfully :-)

Thanks for your help.
