I wanted to check out the new Aquatic theme, so I tried to install it from the Theme Installer page but got this error:
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: tar in /home/*****/public_html/admin/themeinstaller.php on line 32

My ftp and wsn links account information was filled in, and there's a file named tempname.tar.gz in the temp directory that seems to be the right size.
I then tried downloading it from this site and using the form on the Theme Installer page to upload it, but got the same error message.

Sounds like PHP 4. With PHP4's poor memory management you'll probably run into memory limits anyway, but since I'm officially supporting it for a few more months I'll add some handling for it.

I don't see how __autoload could ever fail then. Do you have a classes/tar.php file?

55,219 bytes? Contains "class tar" in it? I can't make any sense of it then. We'll see if the PHP 4 fix works for you even though it's not PHP 4. (Release expected tonight.)
