Download at http://scripts.webmastersite.net/wsnlinks/members...

Important points:

  • English-only. The multilingual version will take some time.
  • You don't actually need to overwrite templates, but until you do so you won't see the new features.
  • This is your chance to give feedback to get things changed before they become a bit more set in stone.
  • Please report bugs, anything which has gone missing from the admin panel, etc.

Also note that 3.1x will be maintained as the stable version for a while after the release of 3.2.

Do you have a feature listing of what's new in this version that requires templates to be overwritten. There's no way I can redo my template design from scratch, but if possible I'd simply add the new features into my pre-existing templates.

From Feature Suggestions:

Done for 3.20 dev:
- Editing date fields
- per-day grouped email notifications
- Hiding inactive members
- secondary usergroups for users (like vBulletin)
- moderator/admin user notes on members, plus separate public member-thread which works like a kind of guestbook for them
- E-mail registration details [Quantum]
- WYSIWYG editor option
- member ranks system
- Separate directory within attachments for avatars [will likely be done for forum just to be standard, but unlikely for links]
- ability to make member link lists public
- central location for members to review their links
- member guestbooks
- instant messaging system
- countless new moderating/administrating features
- auto-generated list of similar links
- contact form
- visitor help system

To be implimented:
- rss feed for member link list
- Separate Global Link Promotion for Sponsoring Members
- Search for a "text" in all templates. Result: Templates in which "text" occurs + line (and line number, for use of those who prefer offline editing). Click on the template to open it for editting.
- Category option: Require member to have X links or comments before being allowed to submit link/comment to particular category.
- a modification installer (would allow people to specify changes to be made and have them implimented automatically or given to user as instructions where needed)
- Can't see category restriction [Quantum]

Template modifications planned:
- open link on edit page

It's pretty much impossible to list all features since most of them were for WSN Forum. I'll probably try to come up with some sort of list when 3.2 final is released though I suppose.

I can generate a list of template differences with a file comparison program, but it won't be pretty.

Here's the aforementioned list. Of course, some of the changes aren't actually anything important.

That's what the file I posted above is from. It's not pretty, have a look for yourself.

There are some significant bugs at the moment I need to uploaded fixes for. Will upload a better 3.2 EX in a few hours.

As far as RSS templates, I don't know what sort of info you have in mind.

Any way in which you access WSN Links RSS uses the template. I removed all of the original format from the file, it only exists in the template, so it has no choice but to check the template. Custom templates should work the same as custom templates anywhere I believe, adding onto the url.

Supporting other formats is still problematic in that you need the data to fit right. Many formats would require a different sort of data than currently available, though I'll likely add template variables needed for new formats on request.

Just uploaded the new copy of 3.2. Contains a few new features, running upgrade.php is required when moving from the earlier one, though only admin panel templates have changed as far as I recall.

Paul,

The possibility of selecting Post Editor as WYSIWYG is great. I see that at the moment it only applies to PM. I hope it can also applies to Links and Categories.

Best Regards.

Hm, I thought I'd applied it to comment posts at least.

When it comes to links and categories I don't see what field it'd fit well for.

I believe the Description field fits well to be completed with WYSIWIG editor, primarily for Links and secondly for Categories.

Something I don't get -- in the admin, on the main page - it says:

"Forums: 4 (4 counting subforums)"

Yet I don't HAVE forums installed. Hmmm. How....quirky.

Just a spot in the template I didn't change. Changing now, along with 'topics' etc there and everything else on that particular page. There are probably more things in the admin panel that reference forums, since I started by copying over the forums admin panel templates, so list them as you find them.
