Upgrading - Clarification on: Overwrite the /admin/

"Overwrite the /admin/ subdirectory of your template set."

Is what the instructions are - makes sense to me nod as in the past the choices were clear [ see Attachment #1 as to what was there in the past]
and attachment #2 for what was in the past downloded versions of WSN

Now today .. more choices .. as to which "admin" to overwrite /copy from
[see attachment #3] with the latest release downloaded of WSN Links
- as there is the "admin" by itself + also the admin in the default folder ..

It appears that they aren't the same - but I may have missed on that ..

Hope my question makes sense ..

Do I add the new "admin" by itself ?
And / or ... Do I - in addition - overwrite the existing "admin" inside the "default" folder

Thanks again in advance

You haven't specified a version number. There's nothing ambiguous about it in the current version -- 4.0.29 -- and if you're using the experimental 4.1 alpha (which is the only version that has your attachment 3) then that isn't part of the upgrade instructions. I guess you're reading the readme file of a different version than you're using.

Oops Missed mentioning the version numbers - (apologies)

.. Working on upgrading from 4.0.7 to 4.0.29

...and actually - here is why I am confused - I just redownloaded 4.0.29 - and in fact if you open up the folder named "template" - then screenshot #3 "is" what I get ..

I went back to my download of 4.0.18 - and the "admin" folder [ the one that is giving me the rise for concern - and need the clarification on... - is not shown)

Hope this information helps ..

Thanks

I can't imagine how I could've done this since I can't find any similar install on my computer, but it appears 4.0.29 is actually a hybrid containing all the 4.1.0 alpha 2 files which don't have 4.0.x equivilants. Seems it actually runs like 4.0.x though since it keeps the actual 4.0.29 files where they have the same name. Fixed with 4.0.30.

Thanks for the update:

OK so now that I have returned from another trip - am determined to get upgraded.

It seems that with the new download of WSN Links 4.0.31

I end up with attachment # 3 from above again:

So .... not trying to be a pain in the _ _ _ - but is this correct ?

If so ... wondering which "Admin Folder" is correct to overwrite ?
- the first one in the list in attachment #3
- or the "Admin Folder" found in the "default named folder"

Thanks again

I've seen the instruction (in some earlier versions) to keep the "templates" folder if one has customised them and only overwrite the "admin" folder found inside the "templates" folder. You'll have to overwrite it by the same folder in the "templates" folder from the latest release. This folder only contains template files (*.tpl) and a css-file. The "admin" folder on the other hand found in the root directory contains no tpl-files.. only php files. This should also be overwritten by the "admin" folder found in the root directory of the latest version.

Here're the instructions for upgrading from 4.0.7 to latest (taken from readme.html):

TO UPGRADE FROM 4.0.2 - 4.0.9: top
  • Upload to overwrite all files except your /templates/ and /integration/ directories.
  • Overwrite the /admin/ subdirectory of your template set.
  • Overwrite/adapt your suggestlink.tpl template if you let people suggest categories and want to have the option behave properly on incompetes.
  • Login to your WSN Links site as an administrator and run upgrade.php, by going to http://www.yoursite.com/wsnlinks/upgrade.php in your web browser.

Yes I am aware of the readme.html

...but that doesn't answer my question.

I am not talking about the admin folder/directory in the root directory.

I am just making sure that as in 4.0.29 - in which there was an additional admin folder/directory added inside of the templates folder/directory - [see Paul's Comments above]
that the current download is now correct for 4.0.31

...and so by following the instructions then ..
Do I add the new "admin" by itself ? - into the templates folder/directory...
And / or ... Do I - in addition - overwrite the existing "admin" found inside the "default" folder/directory- with the admin folder/directory found inside the "default" folder/directory - which is inside the templates folder/directory?

    So Paul:

Just to be clear with [WSN Links 4.0.31 that was released Jun 10, 2007]

That the templates folder for version 4.0.31 containing:
    [See Attachment # 1] is correct ??

as opposed to version 4.0.30 which contained:
    [See Attachment # 2]

    Thanks again

Okay, somehow ZIP files are changing themselves automatically on generation, even though there's no reference in the generation script to the files/directories they're grabbing. I'm going to have to provide only the .tar.bz2 until I figure out what's going on with .zips. Download the .tar.bz2.
