In the Admin section under Settings/System Configuration where you input your Directory Url we are directed to input the directory url without the trailing slash. However, whenever I Save Settings the trailing slash is added back in. Consequently I have double trailing slashes and the script doesn't work properly.
Which file(s) do I manually edit to remove the slash, and how to go about it? A speedy response would be greatly appreciated.

Put simply, it edits fine from the admin panel in every install I've ever done or seen. You must be doing something wrong.

If you're already using that manual entry's instructions, then of course the admin panel changes wouldn't stick. I guess that's what you're doing.
