Tried putting i.e. mov.jpg (also tried avi.gif...) into templates/images/default, but can't see any change. Did a search but couldn't find the thread; any ideas on what I have to do?

You probably already read this page in the manual:

scripts.webmastersite.net/w...ery/manual/link.php?id=138

From my reading of it, you would want to name it avi.png or mov.png to have the default thumbnail for that file type. I was trying to do the same for pdfs (but haven't gotten around to it yet).

Support for this seems to have died in the latest version.

Aha, found one. This one is 10k, but the one I just had -- from 2.16 -- was 10.6k.
